- This week we had the sixth Mandarin Matrix Reading and Writing test. There are four parts in the test: 1. Vocabulary Picture Matching. 2. Picture Q and A Sentence Matching. 3. Fill-In the Blank Box. 4. Reading Comprehension. Our students are getting better on the reading comprehension part.

Monday (05/01) :
- Lesson: 16-3 Making Halves and Fourths of Rectangles and Circles.
- Partition circles and rectangles into two and four equal shares, describe the shares using the words halves, fourths, and quarters, and use the phrases half of, fourth of, and quarter of. Describe the whole as two of, or four of the shares. Understand for these examples that decomposing into more equal shares creates smaller shares.
- We completed textbook's worksheet 16-3 "Making Halves and Fourths of Rectangles and Circles" today.

Monday (05/01) :
- Watched videos about "sink and float".

Tuesday (05/02):
- Review: Watched videos about "sink and float". (Thumb up/down vote. (sink or float)).
- First picture: I asked what will sink and what will float. Students found the pattern that lighter objects will float and heavier objects will sink.
- Second picture: I then asked why such an heavy object like a ship would float. Students answered that it's because the sea is huge, and comparably, the ship is small. They also said that it's because the bottom is circular with air.
- Third and fourth picture: I then asked why some boats/ships do sink. Students were not able to figure out after several guesses, so showed them the fourth picture. Then they said that it's because the bottom part is broken (there's a hole).
- Fifth picture: I demonstrated the these objects that are similar in shape to boats would float despite one being a metal object.
- Sixth picture: If water gets inside, the objects would sink even being plastic and light-weighted.
Wednesday (05/03):
